I purchased a 12 foot Porta-Bote directly from the manufacturer along with a 6 HP four-stroke Nissan outboard.  I wanted a boat to fish from as well as explore.  The Porta-Bote has been wonderful so far.  It is made out of a high-tech plastic and it folds up into a compact package which is carried on top of our Tacoma in between our kayaks.  The fit is very snug and secure.  When unfolded and the seats in place, the boat is very solid and sturdy.  People have taken these out on the water during very rough conditions and they do great.  The 6 hp. motor propels the boat nicely and there is no need for a larger motor.  Once the boat gets up to a certain speed, it begins to deform a little and the drag factor goes way up negating the extra horsepower.  I highly recommend the Porta-Bote.  The manufacturer is known to care about their product before and after the sale.  They participate in an online forum located on the Yahoo message boards.  This is a great place to learn more about the Porta-Bote.  I don't have many pictures of the porta-bote at this time but I will try to get some soon.  What pictures I do have so far is me and my friend, "Buddy", out on a misty morning lake in Maine.  Instructions on how to assemble the Porta-Bote are found here.
