Memorial Day

Another great day for Erika and I.  We spent the first part of the day kayaking on Lake Dillon.  The mountain backdrop reflecting off of the water was spectacular.  We drifted along the shore letting the wind lazily push us.  We gazed at the geology, trees, and wildlife.  We listened to the birds in the trees near the shore.  When paddling, our kayaks sliced through the water with absolute silence.  The world other than what we saw did not exist for hours.

Later that day, we spent the afternoon hosting friends for a Memorial Day BBQ.  My famous ribs with the secret recipe were served along with chicken, corn on the cob, salad, broccoli, garlic bread, lemonade, and apple fritters for desert.  We were honored to be in the presence of our friend, Bob Plant, who served not only in the Navy but the Army as well.  We salute you Bob and your service!  We remembered those who have served and now serve our country, some making the ultimate sacrifice.  We were also joined by Bob's wife, Judy, as well as our three newest friends, Guy and Hylah Smalley and their son, Evan.  Guy is an incredible artist.  Check out Guy's website.  Not only does Guy impress me with his artistic talent but he and his wife struck us as being two very giving, altruistic people.  Really our kind of folks!
