JNFH
a film by Jerry Kessler

JNFJ is about one beautiful spring and summer spent at the Jackson National Fish Hatchery at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  We volunteered there from May through September.  We helped the full time staff care for the fish, give tours to thousands of people who came to visit, and maintain the hatchery facility.  Because the main building was closed to the public due to earthquake damage, there was not enough interesting things for the visitors to see.  I decided to make a short film that takes the people behind the scenes to see what we do.  The film takes the visitor through a one year time span in just over 3 minutes.  It starts with the spawning season where we harvest and fertilize the fish eggs and ends with the releasing (stocking) of the fish into the wild.

This film has been greeted with rousing enthusiasm from the folks who see it before every tour we give.  Laughter and excited chatter is common during the fish pumping scenes where we put the fish into the truck.  At the end, we sometimes get spontaneous applause and generous compliments for what has been created.  I think that this video might be a work in progress as I acquire even more interesting and spectacular footage during our next visit to JNFH.
